Jennifer Aniston Called Out JD Vance’s Past Comments Claiming That Women Without Kids Are “Miserable”

After Opening Up About Her “Challenging” Fertility Journey, Jennifer Aniston Called Out J.D. Vance’s Past Comments Claiming That Childfree Women Are “Miserable”

Jennifer Aniston called out resurfaced comments made by former president Donald Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, J.D. Vance, about women without children.

During a 2021 Fox News interview with Tucker Carlson, Vance claimed that women who have not birthed children, such as Vice President Kamala Harris, are “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.”

“It’s just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” he said at the time. “And how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”

.

Vance’s comments have resurfaced since Trump selected him as his running mate on July 15, promptly stirring up a lot of backlash. And one of the many women speaking out against Vance’s comments is Jennifer Aniston, who has talked openly in the past about her “challenging” fertility journey.

On Wednesday, the actor shared a clip of Vance’s resurfaced Fox News interview on her Instagram story, with a caption that began: “I truly can’t believe that this is coming from a potential VP of the United States.”

She continued: “All I can say is… Mr Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option,” she wrote. “Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

As you may know, Jennifer has been forced to shut down invasive pregnancy rumors multiple times throughout her career. In November 2022, she told Allure that “the years and years and years of speculation” were “really hard” to manage.

“I would say my late 30s, 40s, I’d gone through really hard shit, and if it wasn’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be,” she said of “trying to get pregnant.”

“It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road…I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it,” she continued. “I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”

In the same interview, she commented on the public narrative that plagued her 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt, insinuating she deprived him of a child because she “was just selfish” and wanted to focus on her career instead of pursuing motherhood.

“God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid,” she recalled. “It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”
