Thiago Alcantara leaves Barca coaching crew, replacement named
Thiago Alcantara’s time working as one of Hansi Flick’s assistant coaches has come to an end. That was quick.
Barcelona confirmed in a statement that said, “Arnau Blanco, until now the coach of the FC Barcelona U16A team, joins Hansi Flick’s coaching team in place of Thiago Alcántara who today, Friday, August 16, has his last day with the squad.”
Thiago briefly worked at Barca for less than two months after his contract as a Liverpool player expired. The Spanish superstar had confirmed his retirement from football earlier.
It is expected that Thiago will now work on securing his coaching badges. First, the UEFA B licence and then A. Only then will he be allowed to coach teams in Europe.
