Jeopardy! viewers were gutted that they had to say goodbye to Allegra Kuney on Tuesday, following her impressive winning streak, but they were happy to know that she will be returning in the near future.
During the November 6 episode of the popular game show, the Ph.D. candidate from New Brunswick, N.J. was defeated by researcher Harrison Whitaker, ending her four-day run on the show.
Despite the winning contestant taking home $34,801, Allegra still lands on top fiscally with a total prize bank of $92,600 and a chance to win more cash during the Tournament of Champions. Her anticipated return has softened the disappointment her fans are experiencing from her loss.
Fans were on the edge of their seats for the majority of the night’s game. Allegra was primarily winning up until the third question of Double Jeopardy, which brought her prize bank slightly underneath Harrison.
The two contestants were correct on Final Jeopardy, however, Harrison bet more money, leaving him further in the lead and ultimately the winner.
Once he came out as the victor, one Reddit user expressed, “NOOOOOOOOOO ALLEGRA LOST WHYYYYYYYY I was so rooting for Allegra and thought she would streak all week. Well, goodbye to her for now until TOC…”

“Second straight very competitive game. It’ll be fun to see Allegra at the ToC,” a third added.

The Tournament of Champions, which will air on Jan. 27, is an annual special that brings together the most successful champions from the past year to compete for the title and significant cash prize. Contestants can qualify for the tournament from Dec. 9, 2024 to Nov. 14, 2025.
This year’s game will maintain the 21-player format.

Allegra secured her spot in the competition during her last winning segment. The traditional rule for the special episode is four wins makes a contestant qualified while five wins guarantees a spot.
If she had won every game this week, she would have been the first qualifier for the 2027 Tournament of Champions.
The most famous winner of the Tournament of Champions is the show’s current host Ken Jennings. In 2005, he made Jeopardy! history as he won the special competition after winning 74 consecutive games the year before.
Ken was invited back in 2021 as a guest host before becoming the sole personality in December of 2023. He has already hosted three Tournament of Champions since joining the show.
