Jeopardy! fans are all complaining about the long-running game show’s streaming schedule.

Ahead of the Season 42 premiere of Jeopardy!, it has been revealed which tournaments are returning and how faithful viewers can stream episodes after the season kicks off. The Second Chance and Champions Wildcard competitions, along with the Tournament of Champions and Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament (JIT) is making a comeback this season. However, the “postseason” tournaments will air later in the season. Like each season since 2021, Ken Jennings will host the television programs Jeopardy! and Celebrity Jeopardy!

After Jeopardy! airs on September 8, the new episodes will be available on streaming platforms such as Hulu, Hulu on Disney+, and Peacock (in the U.S.) and Crave (in Canada) the next day.

The only catch is that only the latest five episodes of the new season will be streamable.

“Having new episodes of Jeopardy! available on streaming for the first time is a huge milestone in the history of our program, and we look forward to welcoming a new audience on these platforms,” Game Shows President for Sony Pictures Television, Suzanne Prete, said in a press release.

“We want to celebrate that leap forward while also making sure our viewers know that if they watch Jeopardy! on their local station, they will continue to be able to do so. Our affiliate and owned station partners around the country remain essential to the show’s success,” she continued in the statement.

While Suzanne is excited for the new streaming update, many Jeopardy! fans have taken to Reddit to voice their disappointment with it. “Dear Sony, access to every episode of Jeopardy is something I would willingly sit through ads to watch. Just make it happen,” one commented.

A second shared, “This is so asinine. Why are the rights to these shows so impossible to maneuver?” A third remarked, “Honestly, with the sheer number of episodes released each year, I’m not too surprised by this. And in almost every circumstance, it shouldn’t be too hard to catch up within a week anyway.”

One Redditor asked, “Why is this always the case? Why has there never been a good (legal) way to watch reruns??” Someone else in the forum answered: “Part of it goes back to long-standing agreements with local syndication affiliates. They didn’t want to lose viewers to streaming services, so their agreements with Sony/Jeopardy included rules that said that there wouldn’t be massive archives of recent games. Just having next-day games is a huge upgrade from that, but either.”
