“Gal Gadot: From Beauty Queen and Soldier to Silver Screen Superhero”
Miss Israel 2004 served in the army before joining Hollywood and taking on iconic roles.
In an interview with W magazine in April, Gal Gadot comfortably appeared with little makeup on her face. The close-up angle further enhances the delicate beauty and smile of the beauty born in 1985.
14 years ago, that beauty conquered the judges and brought Gadot the title of Miss Israel.
The beauty came to the contest completely by chance, when her mother tried sending her daughter’s photo and profile to a beauty search expert. Originally passionate about becoming a choreographer and later a lawyer, Gadot only saw the beauty contest as a walk and participated to please her mother.
Competing with a relaxed mind, the beauty born in 1985 was suddenly crowned. She was happy, surprised and worried about having to “take on the responsibilities of a beauty queen”. For that reason, when participating in Miss Universe, Gadot did everything to make others dislike her. She confided to W magazine : “I’m afraid that people will choose me again like when I participated in the Miss Israel contest. Even though I always keep order, in front of everyone I have to try to do something different. I’m intentionally late for the sessions.” rehearsing, wearing the wrong outfit and even pretending not to be fluent in English with judge Paula Abdul.”
That true walk brought many good things to Gadot. She made friends with many beauties from around the world during the competition because all of them did not see Gadot as a threat to the crown. After the contest, the beauty received a series of invitations to model for fashion brands and take magazine cover photos. But like all other Israeli citizens, Gal Gadot still spent two years of her youth performing military service.
She returned to her hometown and joined the IDF. Gadot confided about this period to Glamor magazine : “I wish no country in the world needed an army. But in Israel, military service is an essential part. You dedicate two years, study for a century.” laws, how to respect others and forget your own freedom. Because this is not about you anymore, it’s about the country.”
The personal life of the former Miss has no scandals. Gal Gadot married real estate expert Yaron Varsano in 2008. They have two daughters, born in 2011 and 2017.
Hollywood’s iconic superhero
At the end of his military service, Gal Gadot studied Law at university. A Hollywood casting expert accidentally saw her image while modeling and was quickly captivated. He invited her to audition for the role of Bond girl in the movie Quantum of Solace about the spy James Bond. Even though she lost the role to Olga Kurylenko, Gal Gadot still had an unforgettable experience. Previously, she once thought she was “too smart to be an actress” but after auditioning for the role of a Bond girl and participating in a series of Israeli television series, Gadot realized her mistake. She sees that behind the glory are hours of hard practice for the role, unsatisfactory auditions or having to rack her brains to find the right script.
Gadot didn’t have to wait long for Hollywood to find her. The casting director of Quantum of Solace invited her to join the Fast & Furious series as Gisele, a tough girl who worked for a tycoon before joining Dominic Toretto’s “big family”. Director Justin Lin was particularly impressed by Gadot’s military service and cast her in three Fast & Furious films from 2009 to 2013. The character of Gisele left an impression on audiences thanks to her attractive appearance and excellent fighting ability. Many people expressed regret when she was killed off at the end of the sixth part.
