Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s preseason plans ahead of Kansas City Chiefs’ history bid after their Euro excursions

PATRICK Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been in non-stop party mode since the Super Bowl.

But the time will soon come for the Kansas City Chiefs’ star duo to focus on trying to make NFL history.

Mahomes and Kelce, who are going for a Super Bowl three-peat, are preparing for the official start of training camp at Missouri Western State University.

It kicks off on July 20 and runs through August 15.

The Chiefs’ first preseason game is on the road at the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10.

They then have back-to-back games at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs will face the Detroit Lions on August 17 before hosting the Chicago Bears on August 22.

As AFC teams will have one more road game than a home game in 2024, all teams in the conference will play two of their three exhibition games at home.

The Super Bowl champion will then kick off the NFL season by hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5, in a nationally-televised game on NBC.

Amid their partying and trips to Europe, Mahomes and Kelce recently attended a mandatory minicamp at the Chiefs’ practice facility, a key foundational marker for the 2024 season.

“I think everybody is pretty motivated to keep the mentality we had last year,” Kelce said afterwards.

“We didn’t get to ‘back-to-back’ by always talking about ‘back-to-back.’

“We got there by trying to figure out the best way to get better from the last week. I think that mentality is key.”

Meanwhile, Mahomes showed he has a new trick up his sleeve during organized practice.

The Chiefs quarterback threw an incredible behind-the-back pass to rookie running back Carson Steele.

And Steele completed the move with a one-handed catch of his own.

Mahomes has yet to use the trick play in an NFL game despite using a series of no-look passes in his career.

And the three-time Super Bowl champion admits he is too nervous to do so – even though head coach Andy Reid wants him to try it out.

“I think it was we didn’t play as well offensively enough for me to pull the behind-the-back pass off this last year,” Mahomes told Fox Sports’ show First Things First.

“But it’s no one else’s fault than myself, because Coach Reid wants me to throw it behind the back more than anyone in the world.

“And so he deliberately puts in plays that I have the opportunity to throw the ball behind the back.

“So it’s not a coaching thing. It’s me not having that confidence to do it in a game.”
