Meet the new ambassador of The King’s Foundation!

British soccer legend David Beckham has been handpicked by King Charles to promote the works of his charitable foundation.

The pair recently had a private meeting at the king’s Highgrove home in Gloucestershire to brainstorm ideas about how they can grow the endeavour.

David took to Instagram afterwards to share snippets about their meeting.

“I’m honoured to become an Ambassador for The King’s Foundation,” he wrote.

“It was inspiring to hear from His Majesty about the Foundation’s projects and ambitions during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens,” he confirmed.

The foundation, which was launched by Charles when he was Prince of Wales, promotes sustainability and plans and implements educational initiatives with the dual goals of reviving neighbourhoods through urban renewal and development.

He got to sit in on some of the educational programmes run by the foundation at on-site workshops and see students taking courses in carpentry and sewing.

The chief executive of The King’s Foundation, Kristina Murrin, revealed that they’re looking forward to working with Becks and hope that he can “share the good work of the foundation with a wider audience”.

The Beckhams have maintained a tight relationship with the royal family over the years, having attended the weddings of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018 as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.

His relationships with the princes date back to the late 1990s when they bonded over their love for football.

“It’s a very normal relationship, with Harry as well,” David said in a 2012 interview.

“They’re very easy to get along with; they love their sport,” he added. “William loves Aston Villa, unfortunately, which obviously I give him a bit of stick about.”
