Are you happy John Wick is still alive?

The John Wick films have given us some of the best gritty action in theaters in a very long time, quite possibly ever. Keanu Reeves, already action royalty thanks to The Matrix movies, brought his incredible movement skills and a subdued emotional performance to four films with increasingly elaborate set-pieces and bad guys placed higher and higher up in the shadowy organization of assassins to which he once pledged allegiance. While he never managed to bring the organization down, his own apparent demise at the end of the latest chapter felt like a satisfying conclusion. Of course, there’s no movie magic that can resurrect a dead hero quite like high box office returns, and a fifth chapter is already being written. Are you happy that John Wick will likely be shown to have faked his own death in order to leave the assassin’s life for good (again) and find some peace, only to be pulled back in once more? When the action is this good, does a possibly contrived story even matter?
