Athletic Bilbao finally speaks up on Hansi Flick joking with Nico Williams
In the aftermath of Barcelona’s 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao days ago, Barca head coach Hansi Flick was spotted joking with Bilbao star winger Nico Williams.
Flick explained he only congratulated the player, but Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte isn’t buying any of that.
“Flick hugged Nico and said he was doing it to congratulate him on the European Championship. I guess he would do the same with (Dani) Vivian, although I did not see that happen,” Uriarte said.
“We have turned the page and the chapter is over. Nico has made it clear that he wants to stay here and for us it is something very important. He has a contract until 2027,” Uriarte adds.
Barcelona tried to sign Nico during the summer window but the player ultimately decided to stay in Bilbao.
