Barcelona make quick decision as European giants plot world-record €250m bid for Lamine Yamal: Reports

FC Barcelona v Real Sociedad - LaLiga EA Sports

Barcelona are reportedly ready to snub a world-record €250 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for their priced asset Lamine Yamal. As reported by Mundo Deportivo via Teamtalk, the Catalan giants have wasted no time in rejecting the huge offer from the French champions.

The report also suggests that Barcelona are not ready to part ways with Yamal for any price. PSG initially made a €200 million bid for the Spanish teenager, which was turned down swiftly by Barca, as per the aforementioned report.

Aged just 16, Yamal has already established himself as a key player for both club and country and is tipped for great things. He has already made 51 appearances across competitions for his boyhood club (seven goals and 10 assists) while being capped 10 times by Spain (two goals and five assists).

Barcelona reportedly view him as the answer to their arch-rivals Real Madrid’s latest acquisition Kylian Mbappe. However, he has also been identified by PSG as the replacement for Mbappe but they now must turn their attention elsewhere.

A €250 million transfer fee would have seen Yamal become the most expensive footballer ever in world football. Neymar’s €222 million move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017 remains the world-record amount ever received from a single transfer.

Despite their well-documented financial struggles, Barca are reportedly desperate to hold onto Yamal and view him as indispensable. The youngster is contracted at Camp Nou until the summer of 2026 and has a €1 billion release clause in his deal.

Barcelona great Cesc Fabregas explains the reason behind Real Madrid’s dominance in European football

Former Barcelona midfielder Fabregas has revealed the reason behind Real Madrid’s dominance in Europe in recent years. Los Blancos won their 15th Champions League title last season by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final.

Real Madrid have won six Champions Leagues in the last 11 years. Fabregas insisted that the quality of Los Blancos’ squad and their mentality make them the most dominating club in European football.

“Why Real Madrid are dominating in Europe? I recently commented on the calmness and the way the team and the fans manage their emotions at the Bernabéu. The fans have become used to knowing how to suffer at critical moments because they understand that at some point something special can happen. But that is not the only thing that makes them win, far from it. Real Madrid is a club that is expected to win or do very well in the Champions League. In addition, they have and have had some great players,” Fabregas said via MadridXtra.

Fabregas enjoyed a stellar career for club and country but could never win the Champions League. The 37-year-old Spanaird retired from football in 2023 and has had a brief spell with Como as caretaker manager.
