Caitlin Clark Led The WNBA All-Star Voting With 700,735 Votes…..Just A Few More Than Last Year’s League Leader’s 95,000 Votes

So the WNBA All-Star teams have been announced, and before I even begin this blog, I want to point out something that none of us knew before today, seeing as we all just started watching paying attention to the WNBA this year: the All-Star game is the USA Women’s National Team vs. the rest of the best players in the WNBA. That means that with the entire country crying foul that Caitlin Clark didn’t make Team USA, she’ll get a great opportunity to prove their mistake in front of everyone. I do think it sucks that she’ll be playing against 12 of the best players on the planet, making this game essentially Michael Jordan and the Toon Squad against the Monstars, but still….should be fun.

Anyways, the point of this blog is that Caitlin Clark led all WNBA All-Star vote getters with a mere 700,000 votes. She was nearly 100,000 votes ahead of second and third place, which included the best player on the planet, A’ja Wilson. And for those keeping score at home, she nearly doubled up Angel Reese….

But who cares about all that. We knew Caitlin Clark was popular. We knew Angel Reese was popular. And we know those two together (just ask Angel) has completely changed the trajectory of women’s basketball as we know it. But one thing I didn’t realize was by how much the popularity has changed. I’ve seen the attendance numbers. They’re crazy. I’ve seen the TV ratings. They’re insane. But the all-star votes need to lumped into that top tier of fucking insane stats as well.

Caitlin Clark led the league with 700,735 votes this year. Here are last year’s top vote getters:

Wowwwww. You could’ve multiplied A’Ja Wilson’s votes by 7 last year and she would still be behind the numbers Caitlin put up this year. But remember, Angel Reese is a part of this too! And the vets laid the path for Caitlin! And there will be plenty of Olympics for her in the future!

Fuck all that. The Caitlin Clark Effect, as we all have seen time after time after time after time, is so real and everyone needs to thank her and admit that this is so good for Women’s basketball, simply because of her. Insane move from Team USA to keep her off it. I hope she goes for a triple double in the All-Star game right in those veteran’s faces.
