Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said he still hopes to play in the NFL again.

Kaepernick, 36, recently told Sky Sports he’s still training and pushing for a return to the league.

But there could be a place for him off the field, if he chooses.

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh told USA Today shortly after he was hired in January that he offered Kaepernick a non-player role.

Harbaugh said the quarterback is considering the offer, but the two haven’t reconnected since then.

Such a role could be as an assistant coach or consultant.

Kaepernick hasn’t been signed by an NFL team since becoming a free agent in 2017.

His sidelined status in the league follows protests he inspired in 2016 against police brutality of Black people by kneeling during the national anthem at games.

Kaepernick sued the NFL for collusion and ended up reaching an undisclosed settlement with the league.
