While Kaepernick still has designs on one day returning to the NFL, he is keeping busy with various other ventures. As such, he launched a new artificial intelligence company on Wednesday.

The Wall Street Journal’s Andrew Beaton is reporting that the former QB has created an AI startup backed by venture capital firm Seven Seven Six, which is run by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

The platform, Lumi Story AI, was built with storytelling in mind.

Kap wants to provide the tools for the development of stories, helping people with nothing more than an idea to flesh out full-fledged tales.

“It allows us to help fill in the skill gaps of creators,” Kap said. “We are now building in that direction to try to open that up and democratize storytelling.”

“We’ll handle all the logistics behind the scenes,” he added. “One of the things that we’ve found is that creators love creating, and they want to focus on creating. Most of them do not want to be business operators.”

Colin Kaepernick Doesn’t View AI As Something Designed To Steal Jobs From Humans

According to Beaton, Colin Kaepernick decided to pursue this after encountering obstacles while trying to launch media companies.

A beta version of Lumi focused on comics launched this Wednesday, and plans to expand the platform’s capabilities are in the works.

The former football player turned civil rights activist also addressed concerns over artificial intelligence putting humans out of work.

“We look at it as AI should be empowering and enhancing creators,” he said.

The 36-year-old started a publishing company in 2019 and has written children’s books, including “I Color Myself Different.”
