Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the daughter of UAE Prime Minister and Dubai ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced her divorce from her husband and seemingly accused him of infidelity.
“Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” she wrote in the post, which can be seen below. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You. Take Care. Your ex-wife.” She married Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum last year, and they welcomed their first child together two months ago.

Her post makes use of the controversial triple talaq, otherwise known as triple divorce, wherein an individual can be instantly divorced from their partner by saying it three times in a row. The practice is banned in a total of 23 countries, including India, where it was criminalized in 2019. It’s typically not known for being used by women, however, and is not considered an option for women under Islamic law.
The family of the princess and her husband’s family have yet to publicly comment on the matter, but The Independent reports that they’ve both since unfollowed each other on social media. There was initially speculation in the comments that she had been hacked, but the post has remained up for over a day at this point.
