Fan pleads with Hansi Flick to use Dani Olmo in strange position – Pep tried it at Barca
Barcelona are moments away from striking a deal with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Dani Olmo. Talks are progressing well for Barca to pay a €60m fee.
With the transfer set to become Barca’s biggest of the summer, you’d assume Hansi Flick already has a plan on how to use Olmo. But trust Barca fans to have an even better idea.
One Barca fan on X pleads with Flick to use Olmo in a false nine position, doing away with Robert Lewandowski.
“One way to make Dani Olmo more viable is to play him at false 9. Most of his threat comes from the central areas, his attacking instincts are excellent and he manipulates congested pockets superbly,” Domagoj writes.
“He’s still overpriced but if he benches Lewandowski… 🤔”
If Flick listens to this fan and uses Olmo in this strange position, here’s what the Barca lineup could look like:
Pep Guardiola tried this same system in 2011 when he brought Cesc Fabregas to the club. The midfielder chipped in with a decent number of goals playing as a false 9.
