Hansi Flick blocked Kante move for one reason – it’s not his age

N’Golo Kante has recently emerged on Barcelona’s radar as a potential option for their defensive midfield role.

The Al Ittihad is reportedly looking for options to return to European football after a solid Euro campaign with France.

Deco was ready to go all in for for the 33-year-old, but Hansi Flick blocked the move, Mundo Deportivo claims.

Flick’s reasoning is clear: he wants to see what Barca’s homegrown talents are capable of first. And so far, La Masia gems Marc Casado and Marc Bernal have done fairly well.

Barca might still pursue a DM once they return from the pre-season tour in the United States, but it’s only right not to rush into any panic transfers just yet.
