Hansi Flick stopped key Barca player from leaving this summer – not Frenkie de Jong

According to Relevo, Hansi Flick has stopped Robert Lewandowski’s departure from Barcelona.

Before the coach’s arrival, the Polish striker was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

At 36, Lewandowski is the oldest forward the Catalans ever had. Plus, as La Liga’s second-highest earner — surpassing even Kylian Mbappe with a hefty €33 million salary this season —selling him could have freed up a lot of cash and helped with financial fair play.

Yet, Flick has full faith in Lewy, seeing him as a cornerstone of the current Barca.

Well, let’s hope the German boss made the right call by keeping him at the club.
