Bellingham, who on Sunday prevented England from a painful last-16 elimination with a spectacular last-gasp overhead kick, was seen making the most of his break by going to an Italian restaurant in Erfurt with his mother Denise.

The distance between the city and England’s training base at Blankenhain is about 20 miles.
After the midfielder was sighted at the eatery, fans posed for photographs with him.

Before being assisted to a car by the police, Bellingham also signed autographs. In footage shot of Bellingham exiting the restaurant, fans could be seen frantically attempting to snap photos with the Real Madrid hero.

The 21-year-old looked at ease as he took a breather from getting ready to play Switzerland.

Bellingham’s gesture after scoring against Slovakia is being investigated by Uefa, which is why he is taking a leave of absence.

He then defended his behaviour on social media after being accused of disrespecting the opposition bench.

“An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game,” Bellingham wrote on X.

“Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”

Alongside the picture, he also included the ‘X,’ yawning, and handshake emojis.

Bellingham’s story is supported by footage that has now surfaced showing him making the gesture while celebrating Real Madrid’s victory last season.

Before Harry Kane scored the winning goal in extra time, he salvaged England’s match against Slovakia with an equaliser in stoppage time.

Additionally, the ex-Borussia Dortmund player was chosen man of the match.

After scoring in the Three Lions’ first triumph over Serbia, he was also given the honour.

In the meantime, Sun columnist Piers Morgan has defended Bellingham and offered an explanation for the possible motivation behind the gesture.
