Lautaro Martinez’s reaction to Leo Messi allowing him to take penalty

Lautaro Martinez thanked Leo Messi for allowing him to take a penalty in a friendly against Guatemala.

The striker also opened up on the issue after the game.

“I looked at him, and he gave it to me. I thanked him, and I thank him publicly as well. It’s a gesture from a great, a gentleman both on and off the pitch. This is very important to me.”

Even though this was only a friendly, Lautaro took his penalty kick at a crucial moment in the game when the score was 1-1. The striker converted it before he and Leo scored a goal each in the second half. Argentina thrashed the opposition 4-1.
