Law & Order: SVU lines up new return for Kelli Giddish after exit
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is bringing back Kelli Giddish as Detective Amanda Rollins.
TVLine reported that the actress is reprising her role, which she previously between the start of season 13 until she left partway through last season, is coming back for the season 25 premiere.
Since leaving the show full-time, Giddish made an appearance in the season 24 finale where it was revealed that her character was pregnant with her third child and was also bored of her new teaching job.
Does that mean that she’s returning to the show full-time already? Not necessarily, as there’s no official information just yet about Giddish filming further episodes for the upcoming season.
The upcoming seasons of all three of the shows are expected to be 13 episodes long, as opposed to the regular 22 episodes. That’s due to the writers and actors strikes that took place in Hollywood earlier this year.
Season 23 of the main Law & Order has cast one of the stars of Veep as a series regular, but it will also be losing one of its regular cast members from the previous two seasons.
Meanwhile, a Canadian spin-off titled Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is also set to premiere next year, although not much is known about it at the moment, not even an American broadcaster.
Law & Order: SVU airs Thursdays on NBC in the US. The show airs on Sky Witness in the UK, with select episodes available on NOW.
