'Liga Florentino Perez has begun': Barca fans fume as Real Madrid get dubious penalty with Vini Jr's antics

Real Madrid have closed the gap on Barcelona with their 2-0 win over Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos were struggling before the hour-mark and then things conveniently started working on their favor.

But the biggest stroke of luck happened in the 75th minute when Kylian Mbappe scored a penalty to seal the result.

Just before that, Vini Jr managed to win the penalty with his antics in the box. The referee pointed to the spot after looking at the VAR monitor.

But a closer look at the incident shows that Vini actually caught himself with the onrushig goalkeeper rather than it being Rui Silva’s fault.

Barcelona fans are fuming about this incident, as they reacted on Twitter.

FutbolJan10: “We have to win the league against a club that get joke penalties like that.. Even with VAR refs can’t see the dives.”

BarcaTotal: “Vinicius should have been sent off with a second yellow for diving. Instead, he is given a penalty because he is wearing white. Welcome to Florentino Perez’s La Liga.”

Corlys Velaron: “Lmao well boys, it was fun while it lasted but Liga Florentino Pérez has officially begun. The organisation won’t allow them to drop any more points until we do. This is what we’re forced to compete against every year. It isn’t fair, but it’s nothing new.”

James: “New season, same Madrid.”
