Mbappé made harsh comments to Lewandowski after hurting his nose

Striker Kylian Mbappe was accused of insulting colleague Robert Lewandowski as a “son of a bitch” after being slapped in the face during France’s draw with Poland in the final round of the EURO 2024 group stage.

In the 87th minute, Mbappe argued from behind with Lewandowski, just as the Polish striker swung his hand out and “accidentally” hit the French captain in the face. The rookie of Real Madrid Club had to lie on the field holding his face for a while, then pulled his mask up high and cursed, which according to information from Foot Mercato, was: “That guy is a son of a bitch.”

We can understand Mbappe’s reaction, because he broke his nose in the EURO 2024 opening match against Austria, but agreed not to have surgery to continue playing in the tournament with a protective mask.

After that, he had to rest in France’s 0-0 draw with the Netherlands, before starting in the final group match against Poland. That may be the reason why the 26-year-old striker is more sensitive to impacts on his face.

Mbappe opened the scoring for France from a penalty kick, but Lewandowski equalized with a shot from the penalty spot. As a result, Poland left the tournament with only 1 point while France continued with second place in Group D , and fell into a difficult group in the knock-out round with Germany, Spain and Portugal.

Speaking about his student’s performance, French coach Didier Deschamps also encouraged Mbappe: “A week after Mbappe’s broken nose injury, everything is still quite complicated. I think he is quite good at wearing it.

The problem is that when Mbappe sweats, the mask causes discomfort because it gets in his eyes and he needs to wipe it off. He is hungry to play and the match against Poland will be good for Mbappe, as well as the French team, especially with what we are about to do here at EURO 2024.”
