Pepe speaks frankly about Ronaldo’s life, making everyone admire him

Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to score a goal at Euro 2024 for Portugal, but Pepe believes his teammate will soon “open fire”.

Despite high expectations, Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to score a goal at Euro 2024, the 39-year-old striker failed to score in the first three matches of Group F.

Looking further back, Ronaldo has failed to score in his last seven appearances for Portugal at major tournaments, his longest drought at the Euros and World Cups. CR7 has had 19 shots across both competitions since his last goal against Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.

However, Pepe – speaking ahead of the last-16 clash with Slovenia – believes his team-mate will soon find his goalscoring form again.

“Cristiano lives for goals, that’s true. But have you seen him ready to play to help the national team? It’s unbelievable. Ronaldo is the player with the most minutes on the field in our team , at the age of 39. He is doing very well. Ronaldo will play well in the final stages of Euro 2024. I am sure he will bring the whole team a lot of joy.”Pepe and Ronaldo lifted the Euro 2016 championship trophy and became the oldest player in the tournament’s history when appearing in Germany at the age of 41. Continuing the football meeting, this veteran midfielder said:

“I’m happy to be part of the team, it’s a privilege. The secret is my passion for football. Obviously I’ve said many times what a privilege it is to be able to get up and do what I love the most, with high concentration and competitiveness, that’s what I have. The love I put into every action, in training as well as in the match.

When it comes to retirement, Pepe has no intention of hanging up his boots: “I haven’t thought about it yet. My focus is on the next training session, on the next match, which is very important for me and Portugal.”
