Real Madrid transfer news summary: Los Blancos eye the English ace, the club wants 20 million euros for the Spanish star

Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid CF - UEFA Champions League Final 2023/24

Real Madrid are expected to invest in their squad this summer as they prepare to fight on multiple fronts next season. Carlo Ancelotti’s team enjoyed a successful 2023-24 campaign, losing just two games in the entire season.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos are interested in an English defender. Elsewhere, the La Liga giants will allow a Spanish midfielder to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer for €20m.

On that note, let’s look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from July 4, 2024.

Real Madrid eyeing Marc Guehi

Real Madrid have turned their attention to Marc Guehi, according to SPORT. The La Liga champions are looking for a new defender this summer following the departure of Nacho Fernandez.

With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger already on the wrong side of 30, Carlo Ancelotti is on the hunt for a new, long-term partner for Eder Militao. It was previously believed that the Italian manager had his eyes on Leny Yoro.

However, a move for the French defender could be complicated this summer, given that Lille want a massive fee to let him go. Los Blancos are subsequently eyeing alternatives and have found their man in Guehi.

The English man enjoyed a stellar 2023-24 campaign with Crystal Palace and has carried that form to Euro 2024. Guehi has been an omnipresent figure for Gareth Southgate’s side in Germany but will miss the quarterfinal against Switzerland on Saturday (July 6) due to suspension. He received yellow cards against Slovenia and Slovakia.

The 23-year-old’s efforts have convinced Real Madrid, who are now contemplating a move this summer. Guehi is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2026 and the Eagles will demand £50m to let him go. However, Yoro remains Los Blancos’ preferred choice for the position.

Los Blancos want €20m for Dani Ceballos

Real Madrid are willing to let Dani Ceballos leave this summer, according to SPORT. The Spanish midfielder signed a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu last year but has struggled to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Ceballos registered just 27 appearances across competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, most of which were from the bench. Despite Toni Kroos’ decision to retire at the end of Euro 2024, 27-year-old Ceballos’ situation with Los Blancos is unlikely to change.

He is a frustrated figure at the club and is now ready to leave to get his career back on track. Despite his recent struggles, the Spaniard is not short of options. Atletico Madrid have their eyes on the 27-year-old, while Girona are also keen to secure his signature. There’s also interest from his former club Real Betis.

Real Madrid would have liked Ceballos to stay and add depth to the squad. However, they are willing to let him go for €20m. The player is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2027.

Brahim Diaz turns down lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia

Brahim Diaz turned down a massive offer to move to the Middle East this summer, according to El Chiringuito. The Spanish midfielder enjoyed a decent 2023-24 campaign with Real Madrid, scoring 12 goals and setting up nine more from 44 games across competitions.

His efforts have earned him admirers at multiple clubs in Europe as well as Saudi Arabia. The 24-year-old’s future remains up in the air, especially since he is not a guaranteed starter under Carlo Ancelotti.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia were willing to offer Diaz €100m in a four-year contract, but the player has no desire to move to the Middle East. Instead, the Spaniard is willing to head to the Premier League if he leaves the Santiago Bernabeu.

A reunion with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal could be on the cards. Diaz’s contract with the La Liga champions runs until 2027, and he reportedly has a €60m release clause in his deal. However, Real Madrid could let him go for €40m this summer.
