Ronaldo was laughed at after his shirt was pulled in the penalty area
Cristiano Ronaldo once again became the focus of criticism and laughter from fans after reacting to the yellow card the referee gave him.
On the morning of June 27 (Vietnam time), the Portuguese team unexpectedly lost 0-2 to weak opponent Georgia on a day with too much “drama” on the field, especially surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo.
Specifically, during a corner kick in the 28th minute, Ronaldo had his shirt pulled by Georgia’s defender and fell in the penalty area. However, the referee thought that situation was CR7’s foul play and waved his hand to continue the match afterwards.
The 39-year-old striker appeared dissatisfied and angry with the referee’s decision and immediately received a yellow card for his reaction.
After the match, on the social networking platform X (formerly Twitter), fans left many comments about Ronaldo’s situation, with most of them criticizing the Portuguese striker.
“The biggest kid in football”, “He cries for penalties again”, “Always complaining”, “All he shows is complaining”, “He complains and cries more is victory”, “Brother has more yellow cards than goals scored in the tournament”,… and many other comments.
Ronaldo only played 66 minutes in this match and the person who came on to replace him was Goncalo Ramos. However, after a very early goal, Portugal was unable to reverse the situation and had to concede another goal at the end of the match with a penalty that Georgia received, in a rare counterattack.
For Portugal, this loss did not mean too much because they were certain of winning Group F of Euro 2024 at the end of the second round, and for Georgia it was the exact opposite, the victory helped them enter the tournament for the first time. in the 1/8 Euro round, the first time participating in a European Cup final round
