‘Barcelona can sign Nico Williams’: La Liga president Tebas

Nico Williams has been a hot topic at Barcelona lately. The 22-year-old winger from Bilbao is seen as a top candidate for the left wing spot.

Alongside Lamine Yamal on the right, this attacking duo could be unstoppable.

So far, the main sticking point has been the financial side of the move. Before signing him – or anyone else for that matter – the Catalans need to adhere to the 1:1 FFP rule.

And, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas, they are very close to do so.

“With the work that they have done, Barca can approach a signing like the one of Nico Williams. They have reduced the wage bill by €160 million. His release clause is €58 million. If he signs for 5 years, his annual cost is less than €20 million. So, it is quite possible.”
