'These are my last battles': Leo Messi drops retirement hint after reaching back-to-back Copa America final with Argentina

On Wednesday, Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 to reach Copa America final, with Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi bagging a goal each. In four days, they will face either Uruguay or Colombia.

Speaking to DSports Radio after the game, Leo admitted: “It wasn’t easy but we made it, we’ll play in another final and it’s amazing.

“I am aware that these are the last battles for me and I am enjoying them to the fullest,” he said, possibly hinting that he might step away from the national team soon.

While “soon” might actually mean two years from now, after the 2026 World Cup, that day will come eventually. After all, Leo has won it all, with little – if anything – left to prove.
