“Barca were more of a human school and football school. From childhood they teach us to respect our opponents, teammates, coaches and everyone around us,” Thiago Alcantara has told DAZN while recalling his La Masia days.

Thiago is definitely one of the most successful academy products of the past decade. Despite failing to establish himself as a regular starter at Barca, the midfielder shone at Bayern Munich and now plays for Liverpool.

Speaking on Sergio Busquets’ influence on Barca, Thiago told Goal: “You always open the debate and for me, there isn’t one, I always say it, over time you watch football and become more analytical. When Busquets is playing for Barcelona, Barcelona always work. He’s a great professional. You watch him train and you continue to learn from him.

“I’m not the one to question, just congratulate him and take advantage of it when we are together.”

Both Busquets and Thiago will be in action for Spain during the international break.

Busquets and Thiago played together for three full seasons (2010-2013) before the Liverpool midfielder joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2013.

Busquets is among the most decorated players in world football with 31 trophies in 618 appearances for Barca.

Victor Valdes set to become La Masia goalkeeping coach next season

Victor Valdes has accepted the offer to become a goalkeeping coach with La Masia, as per reliable Spanish journalist Albert Roge.

Valdes initially rejected the offer and was holding out for a coaching role with La Masia.

The 39-year-old spent nearly 20 years with Barcelona before moving to Manchester United in 2015.

Joan Laporta is believed to have close ties with the former Barca netminder and has convinced him to come back.
