‘Totally fortuitous’: Rayo Vallecano player apologises for causing Bernal’s season-ending injury
“I am very saddened by the injury of a colleague in last night’s game in a totally fortuitous action. I send you all my strength and encouragement. I am sure that this will not put an end to the great potential that you have. Many successes await you. Cheer up Marc,” Rayo Vallecano’s Isi Palazon tweets.
While it’s a kind gesture from the Rayo midfielder, it makes little sense to blame him for Marc Bernal’s injury – it was more of an unfortunate incident after the 17-year-old tackled his opponent.
Bernal is set to miss 10-12 months through his injury which means his season is over already.
The defensive midfielder only made his senior debut this campaign. He was expected to play a crucial role for Hansi Flick after Barcelona decided not to sign a top-quality player for his position.
