Spain could be fined if they use Lamine Yamal in the match against Albania

16-year-old talent Lamine Yamal could cause the Spanish team to receive a penalty for playing late according to host Germany’s labor laws.

Lamine Yamal is currently the number one young talent at Euro 2024 when playing for the Spanish team. The 16-year-old midfielder is becoming an indispensable part of “La Roja”‘s journey to conquer the fourth European Cup.

However, if he continues to compete in Euro 2024, Yamal could cause Spain to be fined.

According to German labor law, workers under 18 years of age are not allowed to work after 8:00 p.m. local time, which also applies to foreigners. This limit is extended up to 11:00 p.m. if working during sporting events.

Even with the extended time limit, Lamine Yamal can still “break the law” if Spain’s matches take place from 9:00 p.m., the time the match ends will be after 11:00 p.m. That’s not including the case where the two teams have to play extra time or penalty shootouts.
Lamine Yamal is playing very well for Spain.
According to German law, the Spanish team can receive a fine of up to 30,000 euros for using Lamine Yamal beyond the allowed time frame. However, with a major sporting event like the Euro, German legal authorities can ignore the special case of Laime Yamal.

Spain will enter the final match in Group B against Albania at 2:00 a.m. tomorrow, June 25, Vietnam time. Currently, “La Roja” has secured the ticket to continue with 6 points after two matches. Among them, Lamine Yamal is still a name that can be used by coach Luis de la Fuente after excellent performances in recent matches.
