38-year-old Manuel Neuer reportedly wants to play at 2026 World Cup
Manuel Neuer has decided to continue his career in Germany’s national team, according to Bild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschaffl.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper even aims to play at the 2026 World Cup.
Neuer is going to take a break from the national team in September, so Marc-Andre ter Stegen would be able to replace him. However, the Bayern Munich veteran would re-join the squad in October or November.
Before Euro 2024, it was reported that this summer’s competition could be Neuer’s last one. Now that he has re-considered his plans, it seems unlikely that Ter Stegen will ever play a key role for Germany.
The 32-year-old Barcelona shotstopper is yet to make the first appearance at a major international tournament like the World Cup or the Euros.
