Hansi Flick: ‘I have to thank Deco’
During his post-match comments after Barcelona smashed Real Valladolid 7-0, head coach Hansi Flick singled out Barca’s sporting director Deco for special praise.
“Before the start of the season, we already analysed the squad from top to bottom. I have to thank Deco,” Flick told the media.
“We’re like a family, and I love that. It’s so good. I’m proud to be told I’m the signing of the transfer window, but we’re only in the fourth game and that can change quickly,” Flick adds.
It was partly Deco’s idea to appoint Flick as Xavi’s replacement back in May.
The sporting director also worked with the new coach to build the squad and improve upon Xavi’s work.
Barca have now won their first four games of the season with the latest being a 7-0 win at home to Real Valladolid.
