Some Barcelona fans believe the club started to think of selling Ilkay Gundogan already last year after Xavi’s team lost El Clasico.

“I didn’t come here to lose these type of games. I have to be honest, I wish this defeat would hurt us more,” the German told the media that day.

After the pre-season El Clasico, the German apparently complained about his teammates to Arda Guler. But he was also doing his job all the time, finishing the season with 19 goal contributions and featuring in almost every game, often out of position.
