Chiefs QB Debuts New Colorway for “Mahomes 2”

“The next Mahomes 2 …’Race Against Time’ @adidasFballUS,” Mahomes captioned a post on X along with a brief video featuring giant versions of the shoe hung over Tower Bridge in London by the laces on July 7.

“Myself, my team and adidas spent over a year perfecting every detail in Mahomes 2, down to the timepiece symbols featured on the first shoe and the zippers on the hoodies,” said Mahomes said of his latest shoe, per Kicks’ Pat Benson in February. “Our hard work and passion comes to life today, and I can’t wait to see fans rocking the collection.”

There was no official release date or other promotional materials along with the clip, which Mahomes also posted to his Instagram.

Patrick Mahomes Teases Potential Cleated Version of Signature Shoe

Mahomes first signature training shoe, the “Mahomes 1 Impact Flex”, debuted in 2021. Mahomes first debuted the “Mahomes 2 Impact FLX” ahead of the Super Bowl. The “Off Script” colorway was unveiled in April and released in May.

“The adidas Mahomes 2 is designed for athletes who crave performance and style,” Benson wrote in February. “Its synthetic mesh upper hugs the foot for lockdown and support. Meanwhile, the REPETITOR midsole cushioning makes each cut, sprint, and jump feel effortless. Lastly, the durable rubber outsole provides ultimate traction on any field.”

Mahomes also suggested a potential cleated version of the training shoe.

The Mahomes 1 was not made available in cleats. The Mahomes 2’s in the “Off Script” colorway retail for $150 on the adidas website.

Patrick Mahomes Gets Shoutout From Tennis Star

Mahomes’ venture to Wimbledon drew plenty of attention, with several outlets simply noting his presence. But his message on tennis stars Francis Tiafoe and Carlos Alcaraz also drew attention from the former.

“Great match!!! Much respect to @FTiafoe @carlosalcaraz,” Mahomes posted on X on July 5, quoting one of the posts marking his attendance.

“Thanks for coming out 15,” Tiafoe replied, quoting Mahomes’ post.

Mahomes’ visibility this offseason has reached new levels, with his Dallas Mavericks fandom keeping the three-time Super Bowl champion in the news well into the summer. He went viral for his post after the Mavericks’ win in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.

The 6-time Pro Bowler also narrated the Mavericks’ hype video ahead of the NBA Finals.

His off-field ventures – the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Current – have kept the veritable publicity tour going.

With training camps set to start soon, a rather eventful offseason for the Chiefs will roll right into the 2024 campaign. It remains to be seen how all of the potential off-field distractions will impact what has been the league’s most formidable group over the last six years.
