Fans react to Alejandro Garnacho posting picture of Lionel Messi on his story

Fans have reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s fan Alejandro Garnacho’s Instagram post with Lionel Messi after he featured in Argentina’s 2-0 Copa America win over Peru on Saturday (June 29). The youngster is an open Ronaldo fan but hails from Argentina and plays alongside the legendary forward for his nation.

The 20-year-old scored 10 goals and bagged five assists in 50 appearances for Manchester United in the 2023-24 season. His finest moment was when he became the first teenager since Ronaldo to score in the FA Cup Final.

Garnacho has made six appearances for Argentina and made his first start in a competitive fixture for his country in the Copa Ameria game against Peru. After the game, he shared a photograph of himself and Messi on his Instagram stories.

One of the fans took to X and wrote:

“Wait for Ronaldo fans tears.”

Another poster wrote about the Manchester United starlet:

“He’s seen the light.”

One fan wrote:

“He is coming back to his senses.”

Another fan posted on X:

“He’s now realizing who the goat is.”

Alejandro Garnacho will hope he can play more games for Argentina and preferably start alongside the legendary Lionel Messi. La Albiceleste have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa America, where they would hope to defend their title.

Alejandro Garnacho told to mimic Lionel Messi instead of Cristiano Ronaldo by Argentine Copa America winner

Copa America-winning midfielder Angel Di Maria has urged Alejandro Garnacho to mimic Lionel Messi instead of Cristiano Ronaldo. The young Argentine is a fan of the Portuguese legend and has even played alongside him at Manchester United.

However, Di Maria, who has played with both the icons, believes that the youngster should look to his compatriot for inspiration. Speaking with Ole, the former Real Madrid midfielder said:

“The only thing I wouldn’t do is celebrate like Cristiano. I would score the goal and I would do like Messi does. I’ll stick with that.”

Di Maria concluded, saying:

“He is a very fast player, he has incredible ability. He is going to gain it with experience and coming to the national team, it is a place where you learn a lot and continue to improve. It helped me a lot to grow technically in every way, it is spectacular. I think he will grow with experience as well. When I was young I wanted to make the play 30 times in the game. Over the years you realise that if you do it 10, but you do it better, it’s worth it. He has a lot of future, a very big future. It depends on him, on his head, to be able to handle it. I don’t have much to say, there’s a reason he’s playing for Manchester United.”

Alejandro Garnacho is currently playing with Argentina at Copa America, where he hopes to help his nation retain the trophy.
