The ‘Herons’ confirmed the loan of Giovanni Ferraina, Boca Juniors defender, until the end of the season. He will join the club’s second team.
New blood for Inter Miami. The Herons have closed the signing of Boca Juniors defender Giovanni Ferraina, who joins on loan until the end of the year. The Argentine defender might not get the chance to play alongside his compatriot Lionel Messi as he will be joining the second team, Inter Miami II which plays in MLS Next Pro.
Inter Miami will have the option to buy Giovanni Ferraina in December
The Fort Lauderdale franchise have secured a purchase option valued at 1.5 million dollars for the 20-year-old, who is considered one of the pearls of Boca’s youth academy. Ferraina is the second Boca Juniors to move to Inter Miami after right-back ‘Chelo’ Weigandt, one of ‘Tata’ Martino indispensable players so far this season.
“It would be a dream to share training and games with Messi, with the best in the world. That’s the great goal, to make it to the first team squad,” Ferraina said upon arrival in the United States. “The opportunity to play with the best in the world is amazing and so here I come, brimming with enthusiasm. I’m very happy to have been given this opportunity. I’m full of enthusiasm and can’t wait to get started. I’m very grateful to the people of Inter Miami and also to those of Boca. I feel physically and mentally prepared to face this challenge”.
In Buenos Aires, the player is tipped to have a promising future head of him due to his great versatility. Apart from central defence, he can also play at left back and is rated for his physical power, although he has been unable to break into the first team as there are a number of senior players ahead of him. He signed a contract extension with the Argentine club in April, which will take him to December 2026, but decided to look for new opportunities now while he has the chnace.
