Another change? The Champions League will never be the same – and it’s not about a new format
The legendary musical anthem will be changed.
UEFA has decided to change the musical accompaniment of the Champions League, returning to the 2006 version of the anthem ahead of the new season and new format.
This year’s UEFA Champions League viewers will have to adjust to a number of changes, including a change to the anthem’s well-known musical theme.
Since the tournament’s rebranding in 1992, the iconic music has accompanied every match, but this season it will sound a little different. UEFA officials have made some minor changes and will return to the “orchestral version” of the original track.
It hasn’t been played in 18 years, and the last time it was played was before the 2006 final at the Stade de France, when Barcelona beat Arsenal.
