Barcelona could look with excitement towards sale of former winger

SAN SEBASTIAN, SPAIN - DECEMBER 17: Ez Abde of Real Betis duels for the ball with Mikel Merino of Real Sociedad during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Real Sociedad and Real Betis at Reale Arena on December 17, 2023 in San Sebastian, Spain.

Before FC Barcelona can make their desired signings in the upcoming summer transfer window, they will have to generate some cash in order to return to the 1:1 rule, that will allow them to use all their obtained income on new signings.

The Catalans are willing to do everything to achieve this status, but one of the ways in which they can hope for some outside help in this regard is through the sale of players on whom the Blaugranes still have a right to a percentage of any future fee paid for them.

There are two such players in Real Betis. The Catalans are expected to earn around €10 million from the sale of Chadi Riad to Crystal Palace.

In addition to this operation, Barcelona can also earn some money from the possible sale of their former winger, Ez Abde, on whom the Catalans still have a 50% right as they sold him to the Verdiblancos last summer for €7.5 million.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the player has chances to change clubs this summer, as Jagoba Arrasate, his coach during his loan stint at Osasuna, wants the winger to join him at his new club, Mallorca. Having left Osasuna some weeks ago, Arrasate is going to coach Mallorca next season, and wants Abde to be the star of his new team.

Abde had a highly successful loan season with Arrasate in 2022-23, when he played a total of 1844 minutes in 34 games, and scored six goals while also giving two assists.

As things stand, Real Betis are not currently ruling out any scenario with Abde. The club has confidence in the winger, but as he is the highest-paid player in their squad, his departure can help them significantly in FFP regards.

Abde himself might be looking to change clubs, as he has not had the continuity at Betis that he expected last summer. He has accumulated 1561 minutes in 36 games this season, but has started only 15 of these games, and came as a substitute in the rest of the 21 matches.

Thus, signing for Mallorca and playing under a manager with whom he has good memories can provide him another opportunity to start his career anew and have some stability that he has not had this season.
