Barcelona players refuse to touch ‘number 10’ shirt
Barcelona players are refusing to touch the number 10 shirt this season, Diario AS reveal.
Barca wanted to hand the number 10 to Lamine Yamal for merchandising purposes but the youngster refused it as a sign of respect to Ansu Fati.
Other candidates like Ilkay Gundogan, Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo don’t want anything to do with the shirt.
That leaves Ansu. But Barca are unsure of Ansu’s future at the club this season. The attacker was having a great start to life under Hansi Flick on a fitness level but then suffered a foot injury.
As it stands, most clubs are likely to be hesitant about signing Fati considering his injury record and the fact he remains injured till the transfer window is over in September.
Barca might’ve handed the number 10 to Nico Williams if he joined but the Spaniard opted to stay in Bilbao and get the shirt there instead.
