Beyoncé reveals new album title
Prior to that, Beyoncé released a pair of singles for her upcoming project “Cowboy Carter” including “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” which topped the Hot 100. The latter became Beyoncé’s first country single in the US and made her the first woman of color to ever top the list.
Beyoncé first announced the album and release date before the Super Bowl on February 11, 2024, and announced the new album title via her website on March 12, 2024. The website’s homepage featured an image of a red, white, and blue scarf – a saddle with the words “Country Carter”.
There’s also a merchandise page that gives fans access to limited edition CDs and four vinyls, each in red, white, blue and black. An additional box set is also available for purchase, and comes with an additional track and a T-shirt with the album name written on the bust.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the singer explained why she decided to make a country album.
“One of my inspirations comes from the overlooked history of black cowboys in America. Many of them were originally called cowboys, who experienced great discrimination and were often forced to work with the worst, most temperamental horses. They were robbed of their talent and formed the soul of the Circuit. Over time, these black rodeos have produced incredible performers and helped us reclaim our place in Western history and culture. We are inspired by the culture and style of riding in Houston,” the singer said.
