Colin Kaepernick Convinced He Can Help NFL Team Win Super Bowl
Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2016 season, and yet, he’s still extremely confident in his abilities on the gridiron.
During a recent interview with Sky News, the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers revealed that he still wants to make an NFL comeback.
Kaepernick, 36, believes he could help an NFL team win a Super Bowl this upcoming season.
“We’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up,” Kaepernick said. “It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”
Kaepernick’s NFL career started off with such promise, leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance during the 2012 season. The 49ers were 17-6 with him as their starter from 2012-2013.
Unfortunately for Kaepernick, he struggled once Jim Harbaugh left the Bay Area. Although he had 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2016, he just didn’t have the same impact on the field that we saw in 2012.
While we can’t fault Kaepernick for wanting to be on an NFL team, he may have to come to terms with his current situation. It’s hard to expect him returning to the Super Bowl after spending seven years on the sideline.
If Kaepernick doesn’t receive an offer from an NFL team this year, he may want to solely focus on the 2028 Olympics. He said that he’d love to participate in flag football.
