How to Watch The Beekeeper Right Now

Jason Statham is so back.

Jason Statham is back on action hero form in revenge rampage The Beekeeper, a tongue-in-cheek wild ride which Variety describes as “what feels like a parody of Jason Statham movies.”

Statham plays Adam Clay, a former member of a unit of elite operatives known as the Beekeepers, who has retired from the secret agent life and now tends actual, real-life beehives (because subtlety is for cowards). When his elderly friend and landlady Eloise (Phylicia Rashad) takes her own life after losing all of her savings in a cruel phishing scam, Clay swears vengeance, and sets out in search of the crooks responsible.

Aided by Eloise’s daughter, an FBI agent played by Emmy Raver-Lampman (The Umbrella Academy), Clay shoots and stabs his way through a small army of bad guys before facing off against a coterie of shady corporate and government figures including Josh Hutcherson (Five Nights at Freddy’s) as Derek Danforth, Jeremy Irons (The Phantom Thread) as Wallace Westwyld, Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting) as CIA Director Howard, Jemma Redgrave (Doctor Who) as US President Danforth.

We’re firmly in John Wick territory here, with a style-over-substance approach to storytelling, and honestly, what more does one need from a shoot-’em-up action thriller?

How can I watch The Beekeeper?

The Beekeeper was released in theaters in the United States on Friday January 12, and right now that is the only way to catch the movie—with Dolby Cinema and IMAX screenings also available in some locations.

When will The Beekeeper come to streaming?

There is no official digital release date for the movie, but a window of at least two months can probably be expected before you can rent or buy The Beekeeper on platforms like Prime Video, YouTube or Google Play. It is also worth noting that its distributor is Amazon MGM Studios, meaning that it will almost certainly be available to stream for free on Amazon Prime Video before other services.
