Jason Kelce Shares Most Regretful Moment From Legendary Eagles Career

Former Eagles center Jason Kelce enjoyed a storied career in Philadelphia, yet there is one moment that still haunts him today.

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce enjoyed a Hall of Fame-worthy career in the City of Brotherly Love. Yet, despite all of his achievements, he still has a few regrets.

Kelce recently admitted that there was one pivotal play during his career in Philadelphia that he wishes he could do over.

Jason Kelce Wants One Play Back From Eagles’ Loss in Super Bowl 57

During the latest episode of “New Heights,” the former Philadelphia center answered a question that he received from former caddie and ESPN golf analyst Michael Collins during the Eagles Autism Foundation golf outing.

Kelce said that Collins asked him that if he could have one mulligan that he could take during his playing career, what would it be?

It’s only right that Kelce admitted he would want back a play from arguably the biggest loss of his career. He proceeded to break down a costly adjustment that he made during a pivotal play in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 57.

On 3rd-and-2 with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Kelce admits that he made an unnecessary change to his protection assignment. His change ultimately confused Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell and forced quarterback Jalen Hurts to face pressure immediately.

Hurts was forced to escape the pocket in an attempt to make a play on the move. Yet, he threw an incomplete pass, which resulted in the Kansas City Chiefs gaining possession of the ball and eventually taking control of the big game.

Despite Mistake, Kelce Remains a Hall of Fame-Caliber Player

During his tenure with the Eagles, Kelce was a fan favorite due to his play on the field and his personality off of it. His frustration with a single play over a year later is exactly why he will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

After being a sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Kelce worked his way to becoming the Eagles’ starting center. When it appeared as though his days in Philadelphia were coming to an end due to his struggles on the field, Kelce continued to push forward.

After a rocky start to his career, Kelce cemented himself as arguably the greatest center in NFL history. He was named a first-team All-Pro six times, including seven trips to the Pro Bowl. Still, his biggest accomplishment was a team effort that will never be forgotten in Philadelphia.

Kelce played a vital role as the Eagles’ starting center on the team that won the franchise’s first and only Super Bowl in 2018. And yet, Kelce’s most memorable moment may have been his speech during the team’s championship parade.

While Kelce continues to be haunted by a pivotal mistake that he made in Super Bowl 57, he’ll forever be remembered in Philadelphia for all of the good that he did — which is exactly why he’s the greatest player in franchise history.
