Lionel Messi has missed out on a “magical” day at Disney World with wife Antonela and his three children, with the Argentine ace on Copa America duty.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has left Inter Miami’s ongoing quest to put themselves in contention for MLS Cup glory in order to focus on the defence of a continental crown with his country. Messi will miss several games at club level as he chases down another international title.

He has been based in Florida while preparing for Copa duty, but now forms part of the Argentina squad that has headed north to Washington D.C. for a friendly date with Guatemala. The 36-year-old is set to start that fixture after seeing his game time limited of late.

While Messi has professional business to contend with, his family are making the most of free time in their personal lives. As they are now settled in Miami, the Disney theme parks in Orlando are within easy reach. Antonela, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro have been enjoying a “magical” vacation.
