Messi speaks up to choose the most important goal of his career

Lionel Messi will always remember one goal in his incredible streak of 848 goals.

With an incredible career, Lionel Messi is considered the greatest player of all time. Now, Messi has chosen the moment against Real Madrid as the highlight of his illustrious career.

Lionel Messi’s effective touch in front of goal and his brilliance for both club and country means his legacy in the world of football will live on forever. Quickly becoming Barcelona’s talisman after his debut in 2005, Messi spent the majority of his career at the Nou Camp. By the time he left in 2021, Messi had scored an incredible 672 goals for the Camp Nou outfit, while winning every trophy there was to win.

After two years with Paris Saint-Germain, Messi moved to MLS side Inter Miami. Messi has scored a total of 848 goals to date. Although Messi has scored in the Champions League final for Barcelona and the World Cup final in 2022, it turns out that none of those strikes are to Messi’s liking.

In fact, the goal that 36-year-old Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is most proud of is a typical solo effort, helping him beat 4 Real Madrid players before scoring right at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium of his rivals.

The goal in question was in the 2011 Champions League semi-final, when Lionel Messi almost single-handedly defeated Los Blancos with a masterful display. After breaking the deadlock in the 76th minute, Messi dribbled past Lassana Diarra, Sergio Ramos, Raul Albiol and Marcelo before beating Iker Casillas to score against Real Madrid.

At the time, Barcelona and Real Madrid were battling for dominance in La Liga and Europe. The classic rivalry between opposing managers Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho was also at its peak. Messi’s goal helped Barcelona beat Real Madrid to reach the Champions League final at Wembley, where Barcelona eventually beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United 3-1 to win the title.

Explaining why he chose it as the most important and impressive goal of his career, Lionel Messi told France Football magazine: “Well, I always say that special goals are important. I scored in the Champions League final, I scored in the World Cup final…

But one goal that I will always remember and that means a lot is the one against Real Madrid, who we beat 2-0 in the Champions League semi-final at the Bernabeu. I think the most important goals are always… the most important. But one thing, I will always remember one of those goals (the one against Real Madrid).”

However, Lionel Messi’s days of terrorising defences in Europe are now over, as the Argentine icon has confirmed. Speaking to French outlet L’Equipe after his move to Inter Miami, Lionel Messi admitted: “Thank God I had an extraordinary career in Europe and won everything I dreamed of.

Now that I have decided to go to America, I don’t think I will return to play in Europe. I could have returned, but it didn’t happen. Something similar to what happened in 2021. It’s very similar to me having to go to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. I thought about returning to Barca, about my life there, about retiring there like I always wanted, but it wasn’t possible.
