Nico Williams Barca saga not dead — Gerard Romero

“Nico Williams’ transfer to Barcelona this summer is still alive,” Gerard Romero says on Twitch.

Romero is a credible Barca source but he can be a bit crazy sometimes. In the case of Williams, it’s hard to say if Romero’s right or off the rails again.

Williams returned to training with Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday and sent a message to their fans informing them of his hunger to start the season.

Until Williams signs another contract with Bilbao, his release clause remains €58m and Barca have said they can pay the money.

Thus, Barca may be expecting a call from Williams before the transfer window closes in September. Perhaps they could sign him and loan him back to Bilbao for one season, that could work.
