PSG broke transfer record to recruit Lamine Yamal

PSG are set to smash the world transfer record with a £211m bid for 16-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

The giants PSG are on the hunt for a new superstar after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid on a free transfer. Mbappe has signed a five-year deal worth £12.8m a year with Real Madrid. The 25-year-old has scored 256 goals in 308 games at the Parc des Princes to become PSG’s all-time top scorer.

But PSG are ready to go all out to sign Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo. Qatar-owned PSG are ready to pay Barca £211m for Yamal – breaking the world transfer record.

PSG will break their own record after the club paid Neymar’s £198m release clause. Yamal has scored seven goals in 51 appearances for Barca and is in Spain’s Euro 2024 squad.

PSG broke transfer record to recruit Lamine Yamal

PSG made a £169m bid for Yamal in March, which was immediately rejected by the Catalan giants. Despite their financial struggles, the La Liga side have insisted they do not want to sell Yamal under any circumstances. Nou Camp president Joan Laporta has called the La Masia product “untouchable”.

The Spanish giant is saddled with huge debt and accused of ineffective management. Yamal’s contract with Barca will expire in July 2026, so the Catalan giants are not under pressure to sell immediately.

And with age, Yamal could have the potential to reach Lionel Messi’s level. His contract release clause was set at an incredibly high level of 900 million pounds. Yamal is also represented by super agent Jorge Mendes.

He has become the youngest player ever to appear at a Euro finals, and if Yamal scores in the tournament in Germany, he will break the record for youngest goalscorer at a Euro set by Johan Vonlanthen for Switzerland in 2004.
