Real Madrid’s homepage has officially posted a picture of the new signing Kylian Mbappe’s shirt number. Accordingly, he will wear the number 9 shirt, not the number 10 as many people think. Why?

Mbappe does not wear number 10 shirt

After much drama, Mbappe finally officially joined the Bernabeu team in early June when Los Blancos announced that “Real Madrid CF and Kylian Mbappe have reached an agreement, according to which he will be a Real Madrid player for the next 5 seasons”.

Now, after France stopped at the semi-finals of EURO 2024 , Real has officially announced the grand Mbappe launch ceremony at Bernabeu with the presence of 80,000 fans in the stadium at 12:00 (local time) on July 16. Along with that is the confirmation that the French superstar striker will wear the number 9 shirt at Los Blancos next season.

Surely, fans and Mbappe’s fans will have to take some time to get used to his new shirt number after a long time of seeing him wear the number 7 (at PSG) or number 10 (France national team). Why doesn’t Mbappe wear the number 10 or number 7 at Real?

As for the number 7 shirt, last season Real gave it to Vinicius. Fans believe that the Brazilian winger deserves to inherit the number 7 shirt after what he has contributed to the Spanish Royal team. Moreover, Mbappe himself does not want to wear the number 7 shirt at Real.

So what about number 10? “Real Madrid confirm that Fede Valverde will be the new number 8 after Toni Kroos. Kylian Mbappe will wear number 9, as expected. Moreover, Mbappe never asked for number 10 out of respect for his senior Luka Modric,” transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on his personal page.

Hopefully, no matter what shirt number he wears, Mbappe will adapt quickly to the new team and new environment to play explosively, reaping both individual and collective titles with his dream team.
