Shocking Trend: Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner’s Yacht Shoulders Spark Controversy

Kylie and Kendall Jenner are at it again, setting social media ablaze with a new body trend that’s causing quite a stir. The latest obsession? Their ultra-slim shoulders with prominently visible collarbones, a look that’s being dubbed “yacht shoulders.”

Recently, the Jenner sisters shared selfies taken aboard a luxurious yacht, capturing the attention of millions. Known for their hourglass figures, the Kardashians are now championing incredibly slim shoulders, where the collarbones almost touch, giving an elongated, slender neck appearance.

A fitness influencer named Proteck Philippe coined the term “yacht shoulders” to describe the Jenners’ striking look. This term quickly went viral, according to the New York Post.

A New Body Trend

Proteck Philippe shared a rigorous workout routine aimed at achieving the “yacht shoulders” look. His video has garnered 7.6 million views and countless interactions, showing just how eager people are to jump on this new body trend.

“Yacht shoulders” are characterized by slim, toned shoulders with prominently visible collarbones that stand out in a stylish manner. Unlike the “TrapTox” trend, where women inject Botox into the muscles connecting the neck and shoulders, “yacht shoulders” encourage hitting the gym to achieve this aspirational look.

Fitness influencers like Natalie Rose and Nathalie Jennings are embracing this trend, sharing their shoulder-slimming workouts and showing off their results on social media.

Controversial Standards

However, not everyone is on board with this new trend. Critics argue that the Jenners are promoting an unrealistic and harmful body standard that negatively impacts young women.

“This standard is absurd. Love yourself and prioritize your health,” commented one social media user.

Some doctors advise impressionable young women to avoid social media trends that could lead to unhealthy behaviors. A study by the Eastern Ontario Children’s Hospital Research Institute in Canada, published in February 2023, found that cutting social media use in half significantly improved teens’ body image.

Alyssa McKay, a 23-year-old from New York, regrets her $7,000 breast augmentation surgery, admitting she was heavily influenced by Kylie Jenner’s image and wanted a similar bust.

“Before deciding on the surgery, I dreamed of looking like the Kardashians, with a full bust and a big booty. I regret not thinking it through,” McKay confessed. She now appreciates her natural body and wishes she hadn’t felt the need to conform to such extreme standards.

The Kardashians have faced backlash before for promoting unrealistic body trends. Kim Kardashian’s impossibly tiny waist, showcased at this year’s Met Gala, has been criticized for making many women feel insecure about their bodies, leading to dangerous behaviors like excessive dieting or opting for risky surgeries.
