Suri drops Tom Cruise’s last name, new name honors mother

A source said that the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes – now known as Suri Noelle – has chosen a new name for herself to “praise her mother”.

News of Suri dropping her father’s last name surfaced over the weekend when her high school graduation list was made public. Suri used the nickname “Suri Noelle” at her graduation from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, also known as the “School of Fame.” According to US media reports, Noelle is Katie Holmes’ middle name and Suri adopted it as her last name.

“She’s paying tribute to her mother by using her middle name in her name,” a source said.

According to this source, the reason Suri made this change is because she “wanted to have her own identity”.

However, according to American media, this is not the first time Suri has used her mother’s middle name as her last name. When she starred as Morticia Addams in the performance of “The Addams Family: A New Musical” in high school, Suri was also listed as “Suri Noelle” in the cast list for the December show. However, it is unclear whether Suri has legally registered to change her last name.

Meanwhile, according to Page Six in March 2023, Tom Cruise still has an estranged relationship with his daughter and the famous star has “not participated” in her life for many years.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise had a high-profile divorce in 2012 and the former “Dawson’s Creek” actress has been raising their children on her own ever since.

In an interview, Katie once shared: “I feel very lucky to have such a special daughter. Being her mother is definitely the greatest gift and privilege.”
